Founded in June 2004, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America is the nation's first and largest group dedicated to the Troops and Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the civilian supporters of those Troops and Veterans.
Scott Winkler, an Iraq Veteran and Paralympic athlete, sent us a video update from the 2008 Paralympic Games in Bejing, China. IAVA Members and supporters sponsored him on his road to Beijing.
On September 29th, the Ohio Supreme
Court ruled in favor of the Secretary of State and IAVA by rejecting a last minute legal challenge to the absentee ballot
voting law. The ruling defended the voting rights of Ohio veterans and
deployed troops who could have been disenfranchised by the proposed change.
IAVA attended both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions and sponsored a "Care Package Party", creating hundreds of care packages to send to deployed soldiers and showing that caring for our troops isn't a partisan or political issue.
