IAVA demands that the few hold-out Democrats stop delaying the "Post-9/11
GI Bill." The new GI Bill has been
included in the war supplemental funding bill, but a House vote on the measure was
postponed last week due to an outcry from a small group of Democrats who oppose
paying for veterans' educational benefits through supplemental funding.
On
Thursday, May 8, the House of Representatives will vote on a World War II-style
GI Bill for veterans of Iraq
and Afghanistan. IAVA strongly endorses this critical legislation.
This Wednesday, April 30, more
than 230 House Parties will be held nationwide to watch "Charlie Wilson's War." House Party hosts and
participants will watch the film and join a live conference call at 9:00pm ET, with
Charlie Wilson himself, IAVA Founder Paul Rieckhoff and Nathaniel Fick, an Afghanistan
veteran and best selling author.
